COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Big 12 Conference and its television partners announced the 2011 Texas A&M vs. Texas football game will be played at 7 p.m. central on Thanksgiving, Nov. 24 on ESPN. The game will be played at Kyle Field in College Station.

"I am pleased that ESPN will carry our traditional rivalry game against Texas in the prime time slot on Thanksgiving again," Aggie Director of Athletics Bill Byrne said. "There were discussions about moving the game to another date, but I am excited and hopeful we can continue to keep this game on Thanksgiving for many years to come."

The past three years (2008-2010) the game has been back on Thanksgiving. And beginning in 2008, the game was back on ESPN for the first time since the 1993 Aggie and Longhorn game. The Aggies are 10-2 in Thanksgiving games televised by ESPN against Texas.

"We are very thankful to ESPN for featuring this great game between two outstanding schools," Aggie Head Coach Mike Sherman said. "It's an honor to be a part of this game and I am so blessed to be the head coach at Texas A&M. This particular game really highlights the players, many of whom played high school football for some outstanding Texas high school coaches, on a national scene."

Texas A&M leads the series in the past 25 contests played, 13-12, including a 24-17 victory in Austin last Thanksgiving. This series is the third-most played game in college football with 117 meetings dating back to 1894. Texas holds a 75-37-5 advantage.

The Aggies conclude spring drills with the annual Maroon & White spring game set for next Saturday, Apr. 16 at Kyle Field with kick set for 1 p.m.

The remainder of the Texas A&M schedule will be announced as soon as possible in conjunction with the league office.
