IRVING - Texas A&M sprinter Dominique Duncan was selected as the women's Big 12 Athlete of the Week along with Iowa State's Hillary Bor receiving the men's honor.

This past weekend Duncan won the 200 meters in a wind-aided time of 22.79 at the Tom Jones Memorial Classic hosted by the University of Florida. Under any conditions Duncan's effort is the second fastest among collegians this season, behind a 22.76 from LSU's Kimberlyn Duncan, and is currently fifth in the world.

Duncan led a 1-2-4 effort by the Aggies in the 200 as Jeneba Tarmoh placed second in 23.26 and Ashley Collier finished fourth in 23.56. Duncan currently tops the Big 12 list ahead of a windy 22.86 by Oklahoma's Candyce McGrone.

Earlier this outdoor season Duncan posted a career best of 23.23 as runner-up to LSU's Duncan during the LSU Invitational.

Fabrice Lapierre named Athlete of the Year in Australia

Athletics Australia named Texas A&M grad Fabrice Lapierre its male Athlete of the Year during a gala held in Melbourne on Monday evening. The women's honor went to hurdler Sally Pearson.

The 2010 track and field season included a Commonwealth title for Lapierre in the long jump as he set a meet record of 27-2.75 (8.30). During the Diamond League series Lapierre placed second overall. This past weekend Lapierre finished third in the Australian Championships to qualify for the World Outdoor Championships that will be held during late August in Daegu, Korea.

USTFCCCA National Team Rankings

Updated rankings through the middle of April have the Texas A&M women still No. 1 in the nation while the Aggie men remain No. 2.

The top five remained intact from the previous week in both the men's and women's national team rankings released by the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association.

Florida is the No. 1 men's team followed by Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Florida State and LSU. The rest of the top 10 includes 6. USC, 7. Mississippi State, 8. Stanford, 9. BYU, and 10. Nebraska.

Behind the Aggies in the women's rankings are 2. LSU, 3. Oregon, 4. USC, 5. Clemson, 6. Oklahoma, 7. Texas, 8. Arizona, 9. Arkansas, and 10. Arizona State.

This coming weekend the Texas A&M squad will travel to Baylor for the Michael Johnson Invitational on Saturday. The Bears are currently No. 14 in the women's rankings and No. 21 in the men's rankings. Action begins at 9:30 a.m. with the women's javelin and running events start at 11 a.m.
