COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M junior pitcher Ross Stripling was honored Friday as a first team selection to the Capital One Academic All-District Six Team.

Following his first team All-District selection, Stripling is now a candidate for Academic All-America honors, which are voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Stripling, a finance major from Southlake, Texas, maintains an impressive 3.64 GPA in the classroom while also excelling on the baseball diamond.

This season, Stripling has proved to be one of the nation's top pitchers and owns a 9-2 record on the mound with a 2.19 ERA and three saves. The right-hander has thrown 70 innings during 16 appearances and has struck out 70 batters while allowing just 12 walks.

His nine wins ranks second among Big 12 pitchers while his seven victories in conference play ties him for the league lead in that category. Opponents are hitting just .212 against Stripling, a mark that places him fifth in the Big 12.

Stripling and the Aggies are back in action Friday night with game two of a three-game series against Dallas Baptist at Olsen Field. Stripling is slated to make his 10th start of the season in Saturday's series finale.
