COLUMBIA, Mo. - Junior pitcher Ross Stripling tossed seven strong innings to earn his second complete game of the season as the No. 6 Texas A&M baseball team defeated Missouri 3-2 in a seven-inning, rain-shortened game on Sunday at Taylor Stadium.

The Aggies avoided the sweep at the hands of the Tigers and improved to 30-14 on the season and 15-6 in Big 12 play.

The Tigers (19-25; 6-11 Big 12) struck the game's opening blow by scoring an unearned run with two outs in the bottom of the first on a double by designated hitter Jonah Schmidt.

Missouri starter Rob Zastryzny escaped a one-out, bases-loaded jam in the top of the fourth to keep his team up by a run. The Tiger freshman lefty tossed 5.1 innings in the contest, allowing two earned runs while striking out seven batters to finish with a no-decision.

A second unearned run came home to score for the Tigers in the bottom of the fourth as Schmidt reached on an Aggie throwing error and scored on a RBI single by Jesse Santo to make it 2-0 Missouri. During the final batters of the fourth a light rain began to fall over Taylor Stadium.

Sophomore outfielder Brandon Wood led off the Aggie fifth inning with a double to left center and cut the lead in half as he scored on a RBI single by fellow outfielder Tyler Naquin. For Naquin, the base knock extended his career-best hitting streak to 20 games, tying him for seventh all-time on the Texas A&M hitting streak chart with Cliff Pennington, who reeled off 20 straight games with a hit in 2004.

The Aggies tied the game in the top of the sixth after junior first baseman Jacob House led the frame off with a double and scored on a triple by junior third baseman Adam Smith.

House again made an impact in the top of the seventh as he put the Aggies up 3-2 with an RBI single through the left side off Mizzou reliever Phil McCormick.

The Tigers went down in order during the home half of the seventh and after a brief council between the Big 12 umpiring crew and both head coaches the game entered a rain delay. The contest was eventually called after a 36-minute break saw no stoppage in the rainfall.

Stripling (9-2) ended the contest with seven strikeouts and just two walks against his ledger as he scattered three hits and two unearned runs.

Missouri reliever Dusty Ross (2-4) took the loss for the Tigers, after allowing the eventual go-ahead run to reach base in the top of the seventh.

Texas A&M baseball is back in action Tuesday when it travels to San Antonio's Wolff Stadium to face UTSA in a 6 p.m. contest.
