NOTES AND NOTABLES
• On Thursday, it was announced sophomore outfielder Tyler Naquin had been named to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team for the upcoming summer. He joins teammate Michael Wacha, who was named to the team on April 18.
• Naquin brings a career-long 25-game hitting streak into the Nebraska series. The run is the longest hitting streak by a Big 12 player this season and ranks third all-time by an Aggie, trailing only Kirk Thompson, who hit in 26 straight in 1989, and R.J. Englert, who set the school record by hitting in 28 consecutive games in 1972.
• During his impressive streak, Naquin is hitting .449 (44-for-98) with 13 multi-hit games.
• Naquin is the Big 12's leading hitting and ranks in the top 15 nationally with a .414 batting average. In conference games, the Spring, Texas, also stands as the league's best hitter with a .439 clip at the plate.
• During his last 14 games, freshman center fielder Krey Bratsen is hitting .436 (24-for-55) and for the season ranks fifth in the Big 12 with a .358 batting average. During Big 12 play, Bratsen is hitting .414, trailing only Naquin for the highest average among Big 12 hitters.
• Senior shortstop Kenny Jackson and junior first baseman Jacob House are the only Aggies to have started all 49 games this season. Bratsen has also played in every game this season, but came in as a defensive replace during one contest.
• Junior starting pitcher Ross Stripling is one of only two Big 12 pitchers to reach double digit wins this season. His 10 victories trails only Taylor Jungmann of Texas, who has 11 wins on the year.
