AGGIE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY: This marks the 18th consecutive appearance for the men's tennis team to appear in the NCAA Championships and the 19th overall. The lone previous appearance was the 1985 NCAA's when the Aggies faced Pepperdine in the Round of 16. Since 1999 when the NCAA expanded to the current 64-team field, A&M has been seeded as high as No. 7 on two occasions--2000 and 2001. A&M advanced to the Elite Eight in 2001 winning first and second round matches at home against St. Bonaventure (4-0) and Vanderbilt (4-0) before beating LSU (4-1) in the round of 16 at Georgia. A&M lost to No. 4 seed TCU (4-0) in the Elite Eight. This marks the third straight year for A&M to host first and second round matches at home. A&M beat Prairie View A&M (4-0) and Ole Miss (4-2) last year as the No. 10 seed to advance to Georgia and the round of 16. A&M's complete NCAA history follows below.

AGGIE HEAD COACH Steve Denton: Texas A&M head coach Steve Denton is in his fifth season at the helm of the Aggie men's tennis program and he has taken all five teams to the NCAA Championships and reached the round of 16 the past two seasons. Looking at the progression of the program, it is easy to see the success continues to rise. His first year the Aggies finished No. 31 in the rankings, his second campaign A&M climbed to No. 23 and in his third season the Aggies finished No. 14. Last year, the Aggies finished the season ranked No. 10 and this season the team has been in the Top 10 for the majority of the season and enters NCAA play as the No. 9 seed and the team is also ranked No. 9 in the latest ITA rankings. Denton is closing in on his 100th victory as the Aggies' head coach. He brings a 97-45 overall mark at A&M into the NCAA first and second rounds.

COACH Steve Denton ON NCAA FIRST & SECOND ROUNDS:  "We are very excited about hosting the first two rounds of the regionals this weekend. We have a real test ahead of us with Alcorn State, an experienced SEC team in LSU and Indiana, who has beaten Illinois and Michigan and they are having their best seasons in decades. Having said that, I really feel our team is playing well at the right time thanks to our senior leadership. This week is a little tricky with final exams and trying to prepare for the NCAA's, but I am confident our experienced team will handle it well.

This is also one last chance for the 12th Man to come out and see a very special group of Aggie seniors. The 12th Man has given us a home court advantage throughout this season, but this is a brand new season, the post-season. Starting this weekend, either we play well or we go home."

SCHOOL RECORD HOME WINNING STREAK:
Thanks to the senior leadership, the hard work by the entire Aggie tennis squad, and the 12th Man, Texas A&M has posted a school-record 34 straight home match winning streak. The last time A&M was outscored at the end of the match was Jan. 30, 2010 against Fresno State, 4-3.

NATIONAL ATTENDANCE LEADER:
The 12th Man has been crucial to the Aggies' success. The crowd set a regular-season match attendance record with 1,093 attending the Mar. 10 match against No. 5 Ohio State, a 4-0 A&M victory. That figure was the top single-match attendance in America this spring. Some other top crowds include the 706 who watched A&M beat Texas Tech on Apr. 8, 616 fans watched A&M face Mississippi State on Jan. 29 and a crowd of 545 against Texas. Texas A&M has averaged 534 for 11 home gates in 2011.

SENIORS GET IT DONE:
The four Aggie senior tennis players played their last regular season home match at the Mitchell Tennis Center as the Aggies defeated Texas, 5-2, Apr. 23. The seniors have done a tremendous job of keeping the Aggie tennis program heading up the national rankings. Led at the top of the lineup by captain and All-American Austin Krajicek from Brandon, Florida, along with his doubles teammate senior All-American Jeff Dadamo from Tampa, Florida. The terrific duo has played No. 1 doubles and Krajicek has held down the top spot in singles while Dadamo has been entrenched at the No. 2 slot. Senior Alexey Grigorov from Moscow, Russia, has played singles at the No. 3 and No. 4 lines and with his doubles freshman partner Junior Ore has given the Aggies' great production at No. 2 doubles. Senior Kayvon Karimi from Dallas, Texas, broke into the Aggie lineup as a true freshman playing at the No. 5 and No. 6 lines. Earlier this year, Karimi played at No. 5 against UT-Pan American and yielded only three points.

COACH Steve Denton ON THE AGGIE SENIORS:
Aggie head coach Steve Denton is in his fifth season at the helm of the Texas A&M men's tennis program and he had this to say about this 2011 Senior Class:

"I get a lump in my throat when I think about what these four seniors have meant to Aggie tennis as they have thrust us to national prominence. I consider all four of these young men as sons. They are a very special group and whatever the future holds for them, I know they will be successful.

What I admire most about Kayvon Karimi is his passion for tennis and his perseverance over his career in Aggieland. He didn't get to play as much as he wanted, but he found other ways to make major contributions to the team. He is tremendously popular among his teammates. He has grown up before our eyes and I am very proud of him.

Alexey Grigorov, Mr. Clutch, has won so many big matches for the Aggies in his career. He has put his mark on Aggie tennis for years to come as he loved the big stage. His love-hate relationship with the sport is legendary around Aggieland. A tremendous talent that can do anything with a tennis ball, he is also tremendously popular with his teammates. He is affectionately known as `Griggy' and he will be sorely missed.

Jeff Dadamo is probably the most talented ball striker that I have ever coached. He has had a tremendous impact on our team and has had a phenomenal senior year. He has continued to develop his game and has added additional weapons to his arsenal. He has bought into all the Aggie traditions in a short time and has been a tremendous asset to our team.

With Austin Krajicek, words can't adequately express just how much he has meant to the success of our program. Since day one, he has been the consummate professional and such a team leader. Since Coach (Bob) McKinley and I have been here, he has been the face of Aggie tennis. Austin is a great example of all that is good about college sports. The love and passion he has for the game of tennis is amazing. He will go down as one of, if not, the greatest Aggie tennis player in our school's history.

SHORT RECAPS ON PLAYERS LISTED ON NCAA ENTRY SHEET:

SENIOR CAPTAIN Conor Pollock's record of 91 wins. The lefthander, and his current doubles partner Conor Pollock's to reach the semifinals in the NCAA Doubles Championships. Recently Krajicek was named the 2011 Texas A&M Male Distinguished Letterman of the Year for his work on and off of the tennis courts. Krajicek brings a seven-match winning streak into NCAA Championship play in singles. He and his doubles partner, Jeff Dadamo, have won four straight doubles matches entering NCAA play and the duo is currently ranked No. 4 in the land.

This Florida native played two years for the University of Florida but transferred to A&M in 2009 and promptly was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year playing at the No. 2 line in singles and earned Co-Big 12 Champion at that line last spring. This season he was a unanimous choice as All-Big 12 in singles and earned All-Big 12 honors again in doubles. An All-Big 12 and All-American in doubles with teammate Austin Krajicek both as a junior and now as a senior, the dynamic duo has reached as high as No. 1 in doubles rankings and brought home the national championship at the 2010 USTA/ITA National Indoor Championship in Flushing, New York in November of 2010. With one more doubles victory in a dual match, Dadamo and Krajicek will reach 25 and have the best mark in school history surpassing Ryan Newport in 2001, Mark Weaver in 1994 and Bernardo Martinez in 1994 who all won 24 dual doubles matches. Dadamo reached the round of 32 at the 2010 NCAA Singles Championships. In February of 2010, Dadamo beat Ed Corrie from Texas when the Longhorn was ranked No. 9 in the nation. This spring, Dadamo defeated No. 17-ranked Sebastian Fanselow from Pepperdine (6-3, 6-4) and in his last regular-season singles match, again defeated Corrie from Texas, 6-0, 7-6 (4) when Corrie was ranked No. 33. Dadamo had an outstanding 2011 Big 12 Championship Tournament earning Most Outstanding Player honors with three doubles victories and three singles wins and did not drop a set. He enters NCAA Championship play ranked No. 31 in singles and along with Austin Krajicek is ranked No. 4 in doubles. His spring dual record of 22-3 is best on the team and he is four victories shy of the record 26 set by Grant Connell in 1984 (26-7). Dadamo became the 31st Aggie to hit the 20-victory plateau.
