COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M outfielder Krey Bratsen was honored this week as one of the top rookies in the nation when he was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball magazine.

The Bryan, Texas, native burst onto the scene from day one as a freshman and has started all but one game for the Maroon and White this season as the Aggies captured the Big 12 Championship and advanced the Super Regionals of the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship.

Bratsen maintains a .343 batting average at the plate which ranks him seventh in the Big 12 and second among league rookies. He's collected five doubles and three triples at the dish while being a run producer by driving in 35 runs and scoring 41.

Among his most memorable games this season was the Aggies' 3-0 victory over Arizona on Tuesday in the championship game of the NCAA College Station Regional. Bratsen broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the eighth inning with a clutch two-out RBI single to drive in the game's opening run and give A&M its sixth regional title and third under head coach Rob Childress.

Additionally, the speedster ranks second in the Big 12 and 16th nationally with 29 steals. His total places him seventh in A&M single-season history and ties him with former Aggie shortstop and current major leaguer Cliff Pennington, who also swiped 29 bags in 2005.

In the field Bratsen has also been spectacular, committing only one error on the year to put together a .993 fielding percentage while wowing spectators with a number of diving catches and a trio of outfield assists.

Bratsen and the rest of the Texas A&M baseball team are back in action this weekend when the Aggies travel to Tallahassee, Fla., to face No. 5 national seed Florida State in a best of three Super Regional for the chance to advance to the 2011 College World Series.
