PALO ALTO, Calif. - Texas A&M junior swimmer Caroline McElhany placed seventh in the consolation final of the 100-meter butterfly to highlight the Aggies' first day of action at the 2011 ConocoPhillips National Championships on Tuesday at Stanford University.
McElhany, who missed the majority of the 2010-11 collegiate season with an injury, showed she was fit and healthy by blazing to a lifetime best and Olympic Trials cut time of 59.79.
In other action, sophomore Erica Dittmer also achieved her Olympic Trials cut in the 200 IM while winning the "C" final in a time of 2:15.86.
Also nabbing their 2012 Olympic Trials cuts were sophomore Cammile Adams and junior Maureen McLaine in the 400 freestyle. Adams touched in 4:15.91, while McLaine posted a time of 4:19.33.
Other Aggies seeing action on the first day were junior Jordan King (1:03.31) and junior Jaclin Rehring (1:03.41) in the 100 fly; Rehring in the 200 IM (2:23.29); senior Alyssa Conner in the 400 free (4:27.31); and junior Cheyne Hermes in the 100 breast (1:05.50).
