Three More Aggies Notch 2012 Olympic Trials Cuts

Three more Texas A&M swimmers notched their 2012 Olympic Trials qualifying cuts on the second day of the 2011 ConocoPhillips USA National Championships on Wednesday at Stanford University.

PALO ALTO, Calif. - Three more Texas A&M swimmers notched their 2012 Olympic Trials qualifying cuts on the second day of the 2011 ConocoPhillips USA National Championships on Wednesday at Stanford University.

Achieving their cuts were senior John Ariens and junior John Dalton from the Aggie men's team, and senior Megan Latone from the women's squad.

Ariens, from San Antonio, Texas, posted a time of 1:52.69 while placing 36th in the 100-meter backstroke; Dalton, from Golden, Colo., swam to a time of 1:52.69 in the 200 free; and Latone placed 35th with a time of 1:03.75 in the 100 back.

In other action, the all-Aggie 400 free relays of sophomore Erica Dittmer, junior Caroline McElhany, junior Christine Regone and junior Meagan Hairston placed 27th with a time of 3:53.39, and the foursome of junior Maureen McLaine, senior Alyssa Conner, sophomore Cammile Adams and junior Jaclin Rehring placed 41st in 3:56.04.

Also seeing action on Wednesday were junior Nick Han in the men's 100 back (59.28); junior Max Lewis in the men's 200 fly (2:05.27); sophomore Wylie Escobedo (1:04.33) and Hairston (1:07.57) in the women's 100 back; and Adams (2:05.19), Rehring (2:05.36) and McLaine (2:06.86) in the women's 200 free.
