No. 20 Aggies Tied for Fifth at ?Mo?Morial

The No. 20 Texas A&M women's golf team shot a second-round 305 and is tied for fifth place at the Texas A&M "Mo"morial Invitational at Traditions Golf Club.

BRYAN, TEXAS - The No. 20 Texas A&M women's golf team shot a second-round 305 and is tied for fifth place at the Texas A&M "Mo"morial Invitational at Traditions Golf Club.

The Aggies (311-305=616) sit at 40-over par as a team heading into Tuesday's final round, which begins at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. A&M will start the day on Nos. 5-8 and play alongside Kentucky and Florida State.

"We didn't make as many mistakes as we did yesterday," said head coach Trelle McCombs. "If we eliminate the big numbers and the unforced errors, we can have a great last round. There's still an opportunity to move up. We have the ability to shoot good numbers out there, I've seen it. Now we just have to go out and do it."

No. 23 Texas fired the best round of the day, a 2-over 290, to take the team lead with a two-day total of 589 (+13). No. 18 Auburn (598, +22) is nine strokes back in second place, followed by North Texas (+33), Kentucky (+36) and Florida State (+40) and A&M.

UTSA and Oklahoma are tied for seventh at 41-over-par, followed by No. 24 Tulane (+48), No. 19 Michigan State (+49,) Coastal Carolina (+55) and Texas A&M's 'B' team (+63).

A&M sophomore Katerina Ruzickova continued to lead the Aggies with a 1-over-par 73 on Monday. She sits in sixth place with a 147, 3-over for the tournament and four strokes back of the leaders. North Texas' Jacey Chun, Texas' Nicole Vandermade and Auburn's Carlie Yadloczky are tied atop the field at a 1-under 143.

"Kat's been doing really good job of managing herself on the course and she's doing all right things," McCombs said. "Unfortunately, she's just not getting some of her puts to fall. She has had a good game plan and I'm proud of her for staying patient."

Sophomore Natalie Reeves (81-73) also finished the day with a strong score of 73. She moved into a tie for 25th at a 10-over 154. Junior Susy Grunden (78-77=155) is tied for 28th at 11-over and junior Sarah Beth Davis (80-76=156) is tied for 31st at 12-over.

Junior transfer Mary Michael Maggio (79-79=158) is tied for 38th at 14-over, junior Aly Smith (80-80=160) is tied for 46th at 16-over and freshman Patricia Garcia (82-80=162) is tied for 52nd at 18-over.
