Aggie Softball Opponents Set for SKGSL Classic

Texas A&M softball head coach Jo Evans announced today that the Aggies will play Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Stephen F. Austin on Saturday, Oct. 1, at the SKGSL College Classic in Spring, Texas.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M softball head coach Jo Evans announced today that the Aggies will play Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Stephen F. Austin on Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Spring Klein Girls Softball League (SKGSL) College Classic in Spring, Texas.

The Aggies will start the day off with a game against TAMU-CC at 12:30 p.m., and will end the day with a 3 p.m. contest against SFA. Both games will be played at Collins Park on Cypreswood Drive in Spring.

A&M is 7-1 all-time against the Islanders. The teams last met in 2010 in a double-header at the Aggie Softball Complex. TAMU-CC picked up its first-ever win against the Aggies with a 4-3 victory in the first game, before getting run-ruled, 8-0 in five innings in game two.

The Aggies and Ladyjacks have a long history, dating back to the beginning of the A&M softball program in 1980. A&M holds a 49-5 edge over SFA. Last season, the Aggies traveled to Nacogdoches for a double header at the SFA Softball Stadium, returning to Aggieland with a pair of wins. A&M squeezed out a 4-3 victory before run-ruling the Ladyjacks, 9-0 in six innings, to end the evening. Aggie All-American Gay McNutt is the head coach for SFA.

Aggie softball kicks off the fall exhibition season with a single game against Blinn College at the Aggie Softball Complex on Tuesday, Sept. 27. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. To learn more about Texas A&M softball, log on to AggieAthletics.com.
