Kunz named to TDS Team of the Week

Texas A&M soccer freshman Annie Kunz was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Women's College Team of the Week, the publication announced today.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M soccer freshman Annie Kunz was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Women's College Team of the Week, the publication announced today.

"Annie's freshman season is off to a good start," head coach G Guerrieri said. "Her athleticism, nose for goal, and precision around the goal mouth make her incredibly difficult to deal with for our opponents."

Kunz, a Golden, Colo., native, scored her second hat trick of the season and of her career on Sunday in the Aggies' 13-1 victory over Fordham. She also contributed two assists for a total of eight points on the day, tying for second in A&M's individual single-game records.

On Friday, Kunz netted the first goal of the match against Big 12 opponent Baylor in the Aggies' conference opener. A&M defeated the Bears, 2-1 in regulation.

Kunz leads the A&M offense with 21 points this season after nine goals and three assists. She also tops the Big 12 in points (21), points per game (2.10), goals (9) and goals per game (.90). Kunz scored her career-first hat trick against McNeese State on Sept. 5.

The Aggies' game against Fordham broke two team single-game records. The team netted an all-time best 13 goals, while contributing a program-high 16 assists.

This weekend A&M (6-4-0) will continue its quest for a second-consecutive Big 12 title, hosting Iowa State at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at Ellis Field. The weekend will end with a nonconference matchup against Loyola-Chicago. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Ellis Field.
