COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M soccer freshman Shea Groom was named to the Soccer America Women's Team of the Week for the week of September 5-11, the organization announced.
Groom, a Liberty, Mo., native, contributed three assists in the Aggies 9-0 shutout against McNeese State and netted the golden goal in the 91st minute of action against top-ranked North Carolina as A&M won 4-3.
This is the first national weekly honor for the quick-footed forward, who was also named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week after her bouts with the Cowgirls and Tar Heels.
The 17th-ranked Aggies (6-4-0, 1-0 Big 12) host Iowa State tomorrow in the team's second conference matchup of the season. The match is set for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff at Ellis Field.
