COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M soccer freshman Kelley Monogue was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week, the conference office announced today.
A McKinney, Texas, native, Monogue led the Aggies to a 3-1 conference victory over Iowa State on Friday. The forward had a part in each of A&M's goals, netting two and assisting the game winner. Monogue leads the team offensively in conference-only stats with five points this season. Overall she is second on the team with impressive numbers in points (22), goals (8) and assists (6).
This is the first weekly Big 12 award for Monogue, who was named to Our Game Magazine's College Players to Watch list earlier today.
The Aggies (8-4-0, 2-0 Big 12) continue conference play this weekend in the Midwest, playing Missouri on Friday at 6:30 p.m. in Columbia, and Kansas on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Lawrence. To learn more about Texas A&M soccer, log on to AggieAthletics.com.
