WAYNE, Ill.--Texas A&M freshman Haley Buchmiller took home the Illinois Hunter & Jumper Association's (IHJA) Adult Medal championship earlier this month in a competition at the Lamplight Equestrian Center.
Buchmiller (Bartlett, Ill.), who had to qualify for the IHJA adult medals with a strong year's worth of performances, bested a 23-rider field in the finals to claim the title. In addition, her 86-point ride in the first round, which was over a course consisting of 16 fences, was one of the field's top scores.
The freshman made her debut for the Aggies this past Saturday against Fresno State, posting a strong 78-point ride in helping A&M to a 12-2 win over the Bulldogs.
Buchmiller and the Aggies will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 8 in the home opener against perennial national power Georgia. Show time is 11 a.m. at the Brazos County Expo Complex and admission is free.
