The tournament is scheduled for Nov. 7 and 8 at Amelia National Golf and Country Club in Fernandina Beach, Fla., just north of Jacksonville. It will replace the Husky Invitational on A&M's schedule, which was rained out several weeks ago in Washington state.
"First, we are so grateful to The Universities of North Florida and Georgia Southern for adding us to the field of the Amelia National at such a late date," Higgins said. "This time of year, it is hard to find a tournament without a full field that also fits into our current schedule and we were really lucky to find an event on such an outstanding golf course. Amelia National is a Fazio design and I have heard nothing but great things about the course, the facility and the community. Amelia Island is a golf destination and I am sure this will be a first class tournament with great support from the community."
The Aggies will open the season Oct. 16, 17 and 18 at the Lone Star Invitational at Briggs Ranch in San Antonio. Amelia National will be the fourth and final tournament of the fall for Texas A&M, who will also compete in the U.S. Collegiate Championship (Oct. 23-25) and the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate (Oct. 31-Nov. 1).
