ITA Women's All-American First Round Results

Texas A&M Nazari Urbina and Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar both suffered first-round losses in the singles qualifying draw Tuesday at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. The pair also fell in the first round of the qualifying doubles draw.

PACIFIC PALICADES, Calif. - Texas A&M Nazari Urbina and Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar both suffered first-round losses in the singles qualifying draw Tuesday at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. The pair also fell in the first round of the qualifying doubles draw.

Urbina, No. 20 in the preseason singles rankings and the No. 1 seed in the 64-player qualifying draw, suffered a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 setback to 75th-ranked Caroline Rohde-Moe of Ole Miss in the first round. Urbina drew a bye in the 32-player consolation bracket and will face Callie Craig of Utah in the round of 16.

Sanchez-Quintanar fell to 29th-ranked and No. 7 seed Natalie Pluskota of Tennessee, 6-3, 6-2, in the opening round and rebounded with a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Maria Fuccillo of Virginia in the first round of the back draw. Sanchez-Quintanar will face Lauren Mira of Vanderbilt in the consolation second round.

In doubles, Urbina and Sanchez-Quintanar fell to the 35th-ranked duo of Madeleine Geibert and Stefanie Weinstein of Nebraska, 8-1. A&M will open consolation action against 26th-ranked Alex Cercone and Caroline Hitimana of Florida.

No doubles matches were played on Wednesday due to rain.
