The matchup will feature arguably the two most successful collegiate equestrian programs in the country, which have combined to win 14 national championships.
"This is a show we've been excited about for quite some time," head coach Tana McKay said. "Not only is it our home opener but it's a chance to face off against another national power in the Georgia Bulldogs. It is a wonderful chance for our fans to see the sport of collegiate equestrian featured at its highest level. I know our team can't wait to get in the ring and compete."
The Aggies enter the weekend 2-0 on the young season, having defeated Delaware State on the road and then thumping Fresno State, 12-2, also in Dover. The show, meanwhile, will mark UGA's season opener.
A&M and Georgia have split the two previous meetings in the series, with both going down to the wire. The Aggies took the first-ever match-up, 11-9, at Freeman Arena in College Station in 2007. The Bulldogs claimed the most recent meeting in a tiebreaker on Oct. 17, 2009 outside Athens.
The squads have met more frequently at the Varsity Equestrian National Championships, where both hunter seat and western disciplines compete independently. Last April, the A&M western team downed Georgia, 6-1, en route to the Aggies' ninth national championship.
The show will take place in two arenas at the Expo Complex, which is located at 3827 Leonard Road in Bryan. Horsemanship and fences will begin simultaneously at 11 a.m., while flat and reining will start at approximately 1 p.m.
