COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M freshman Kelley Monogue was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week for the second time in three weeks, the conference office announced today.
The McKinney, Texas, native scored both goals in the Aggies' 2-0 shutout of Texas Tech in Lubbock on Friday. Monogue now leads the conference in points (28), points per game (1.87), goals (11) and goals per game (0.73).
The freshman forward broke past a tough Red Raider defense that has 10 shutout victories this season to give the Aggies their second conference shutout of the weekend.
This is the second Big 12 weekly award for Monogue, who was named the conference Newcomer of the Week two weeks ago and took TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week honors yesterday.
The No. 14 Aggies return to the home pitch Friday to host Drake in a 6:30 p.m. match at Ellis Field. The game will be broadcast on AggieAthletics.com. To learn more about A&M soccer, log on to AggieAthletics.com.
