NORMAN, Okla. - The No. 11 Texas A&M women's golf team competes at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic Sunday through Tuesday at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club.
In addition to A&M, the 17-team field includes Coastal Carolina, Florida International, Florida State, Kansas, Kansas State, Kennesaw State, Middle Tennessee State, Oklahoma, Oral Roberts, Redlands Community College, Texas State, Texas Tech, Michigan, New Mexico, UTSA and Wisconsin.
Representing the Aggies will be juniors Mary Michael Maggio (Conway, Ark.) and Sarah Beth Davis (Victoria, Texas), sophomores Katerina Ruzickova (Ostrava, Czech Republic) and Natalie Reeves (Euless, Texas) and freshman Patricia Garcia (San Juan, Puerto Rico).
"The OU Golf Club is where we won Big 12's a couple years ago, so I feel like I know that course," said A&M head coach Trelle McCombs. "The only player returning from that championship team is Sarah Beth Davis and she played well there and has a lot of great memories there. It's a course that will suite us very well because it's strategic like Traditions. I really look for us to do something special there this weekend."
For Sunday's first round, Texas A&M plays alongside New Mexico and Kennesaw State and begins on hole No. 1 with a 9 a.m. tee time. Monday's start will also be at 9 a.m., while Tuesday is a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The course is a par-72 and plays 6,327 yards for the 54-hole team stroke play tournament.
The Aggies are coming off a strong fifth-place finish Sept. 25 at the Mason Rudolph Fall Preview in Franklin, Tenn. Maggio placed seventh individually in that event. Ruzickova leads A&M with a 74.00 stroke average.
