White Powers Way to 9-1 Win

series even at 1-1; Game 3 set for Monday.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas—Home runs by Mel Dumezich, Nicole Morgan and Brittany Walker lifted the White team to a series-tying 9-1 victory over the Maroon team on Friday afternoon in game two of the Aggie Softball Fall World Series.

Lindsey Sisk got the Maroon team on the board with a leadoff home run to left field in the bottom of the third inning, staking her team to an early 1-0 lead.

The score would stay that way until the top of the fifth inning, where the White team exploded for five runs. Amber Garza cashed in a bunt single by Walker and a botched sacrifice by Emily Albus, lining a pitch to the wall in right center field to plate both and take a 2-1 lead.

Dumezich then stepped to the plate and launched a two-run shot under the scoreboard in right center to make the score 4-1, then Morgan made it back-to-back long balls with a deep drive over the fence in left center.

The White team would tack on four more in the seventh, scoring on a suicide squeeze play off the bat of Kelsey Orsak followed by a 3-run home run to right center off the bat of Walker.

A pair of true freshman got the decisions in the circle, as Kayla Klein earned the victory for the White squad. She tossed a complete game, allowing four hits and the one run while walking seven. Lauren Ainsley suffered the loss for the Maroon team.

The series continues with game three on Monday afternoon. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. and admission is free. Game four will take place on Wednesday while game five (if necessary) is set for Thursday.
