Aggie Swimmers Shine at Pan American Games

A trio of current and former Texas A&M swimmers shined on the first day of the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico

GUADALAJARA, Mexico --- A trio of current and former Texas A&M swimmers shined on the first day of the 2011 Pan American Games on Saturday at the Scotiabank Aquatics Center.

Representing Mexico, senior Rita Medrano took fifth in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1:00.75, while former A&M swimmer Alia Atkinson, representing Jamaica, took seventh in the race with a Jamaican national record time of 1:01.17.

Sophomore Lili Ibanez split an anchor leg time of 55.60 on Mexico's 400-meter freestyle relay that placed sixth in a time of 3:49.87.
