Day Named CS360 Primetime Player of the Week

Texas A&M soccer freshman goalkeeper Jordan Day was named the CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Player of the Week this week after two shutouts against conference opponents.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M soccer freshman goalkeeper Jordan Day was named the CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Player of the Week this week after two shutouts against conference opponents, including No. 2 Oklahoma State.

The Gilbert, Ariz., native led the Aggies through a big week at Ellis Field, taking shutouts in the program's final two Big 12 home matches, against Oklahoma and second-ranked Oklahoma State.

Day totaled 14 saves in the two games, including eight against conference leader OSU, as A&M took a 3-0 victory over the Sooners and drew with the Cowgirls, 0-0. OSU took 10 corner kicks on the match, but Day used her height to stop the ball in the air on multiple occasions.

Day now leads the league in conference matches in save percentage (.941) and is second in goals against average (0.32), shutouts (4) and shutouts per game (0.57).

This is the first weekly honor of Day's career, and the first national-player-of-the-week award earned by any Aggie this season.

After the matches this weekend, the Aggies sit at second in the Big 12, just one point behind the Cowgirls, who play Texas Tech in Stillwater on Thursday night. A loss or a tie by OSU gives the Aggies a chance to fight for the conference regular season championship against Texas, Friday in the State Farm Lone Star Showdown in Austin.
