COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M soccer freshmen Kelley Monogue and Jordan Day were named Big 12 Players of the Week, the conference office announced today.

Monogue (McKinney, Texas) took the league's Offensive Player of the Week award, while Day (Gilbert, Ariz.) was titled the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week. This is the fourth conference weekly honor for Monogue, who was placed in the Offensive category for the first time this week. This is the first Big 12 title of Day's career. The goalkeeper was also named the CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Player of the Week yesterday.

Monogue led the Aggies to a 3-0 victory over Oklahoma Friday night, scoring two goals and assisting the third. The freshman now has 38 points on the season, on 15 goals and eight assists, to lead the conference in goals, goals per game (0.83), points and points per game (2.11). In the Aggies' 0-0 draw with No. 2 Oklahoma State, Monogue fired four times and placed a shot on goal. The forward ranks among the top in the nation in points per game (12th), goals per game (12th), total assists (30th), total goals (eighth) and total points (ninth).

Sure-handed Day spent 200 minutes in goal this weekend, helping the Aggies to conference shutouts against OU and No. 2 OSU, her fourth and fifth shutouts of the season. The freshman totaled 14 saves, including eight against conference leader OSU. Day's height and agility were key for the Aggies as the Cowgirls took 10 corner kicks. Day leads the conference in Big 12 games in save percentage (.941) and ranks second in goals against average (0.32), shutouts (4) and shutouts per game (0.57).

The No. 23 Aggies travel to Austin Friday to face Texas in the State Farm Lone Star Showdown at Mike A. Myers Stadium. The match is set for a 6 p.m. kickoff and will be broadcast on AggieAthletics.com and The Longhorn Network.

A&M ranks second in the Big 12, just one point behind conference leader OSU. If the Cowgirls lose to or tie with Texas Tech in Stillwater on Thursday, the Aggies will battle for a conference title on Friday. To learn more about Texas A&M soccer, log on to AggieAthletics.com.
