IRVING - Eleven members of the Texas A&M cross country team were honored with selection to the Academic All-Big 12 cross country team as announced by the conference office. Six of those 11 Aggie athletes were first-team selections.
Leading the A&M men's crew is Will Barry, just one of 10 Big 12 athletes to sport a 4.0 GPA among those receiving the Academic All-Big 12 honor in cross country. Barry is a senior Civil Engineering major from Texarkana, Texas.
Joining Barry among the men's first team selections were Kevin Burnett (Senior, Chemistry), Dylan Williams (Junior, Sport Management), and Bobby Zeller (Sophomore, Chemical Engineering). Women's first team selections for Texas A&M included Itzel Cetina (Junior, Biomedical Sciences) and Tara Upshaw (Junior, Interdisciplinary Studies).
Second team honors were received by C.J. Brown (Junior, Sport Management), James Hodges (Senior, Sport Management) on the men's team along with Shawn Dalglish (Junior, Civil Engineering), Katherine Devlin (Senior, Allied Health) and Gabby Salazar (Sophomore, General Studies) on the women's team.
First team members consist of those athletes who have maintained a 3.20 GPA or better while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
Texas A&M will play host to the Big 12 Cross Country Championships this Saturday, Oct. 29, at 10 a.m. on the Pebble Creek Country Club golf course. Admission is free.
