COLLEGE STATION, Texas-The No. 2-ranked Texas A&M equestrian team puts an 18-show home win streak on the line Friday when the Aggies host TCU at the Brazos County Expo Complex. Show time is set for noon and admission is free.
It marks the first of two straight home shows for the nine-time national champions, who following a Nov. 5 battle with Oklahoma State will not ride in front of the home fans until March.
"We are excited about what should be a competitive and challenging show against TCU," head coach Tana McKay said. "The team has worked hard for everything they've earned in the ring this year, both during competitions and in practice, and we look forward to riding in front of our great fans on Friday."
A&M is off to a perfect 4-0 start this season, including a big win over Georgia in the Aggies' home opener two weeks ago. The maroon and white topped New Mexico State last Saturday in Las Cruces 13-7 in the team's most recent action.
The Horned Frogs, meanwhile, are winless on the young season after suffering setbacks to SMU, South Carolina, Auburn, Kansas State and Georgia. The show against the Aggies will mark the final of a six-show road swing to open the year for TCU.
A&M has won all three of the program's full-team shows against TCU. The most recent meeting between the Aggies and Frogs came in November of 2008, a 12-8 A&M victory at the Expo Complex. All-time, including both hunter seat and western-only matchups, A&M leads the series 5-1.
Making up the Aggie fences team this weekend will be Lia Chafee, Leah Chenelle, Maggie Earle, Kori Pickett and Emily Williams. The flat team will consist of Chafee, Earle, Kristin Bell, Hannah Soibelman and Elizabeth Solch.
On the western side, the horsemanship team will be Kelsey Adams, Amanda Brightwell, Katie Lisabeth, Cassie Mantor and Carey Nowacek. The Aggie reining team will include Lindsey Bernbaum, Courtney Dawe, Abigail Grabein, Becca Murray and Emma Myers.
The show will take place in two arenas at the Expo Complex, which is located at 3827 Leonard Road in Bryan. Horsemanship and fences will begin simultaneously at 12 p.m., while flat and reining will start at approximately 2 p.m.
Scoring updates throughout the show will be provided through the team's official twitter feed at twitter.com/AggieEquestrian and will also be available on aggieathletics.com.
