COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS - The No. 17 Texas A&M women's golf team faces another challenging field this weekend teeing it up at the Alamo Invitational at Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio Sunday through Tuesday.
The final of four fall events for head coach Trelle McCombs and the Aggies, Texas A&M is looking for a steady lineup and continued improvement this weekend.
"The expectation is to win, but we're also looking to learn from the mistakes we made in Norman," McCombs said. "If we can do that we'll be successful because we've already established a great foundation. As long as we're learning and making progress, it's nice to end the fall season on that."
Joining the Aggies in the 14-team field are Baylor, Kennesaw State, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri State, Nebraska, New Mexico State, SMU, TCU, Texas State, Texas Tech, UCF and host UTSA.
Traveling for A&M will be juniors Mary Michael Maggio (Conway, Ark.) and Sarah Beth Davis (Victoria, Texas), sophomores Katerina Ruzickova (Ostrava, Czech Republic) and Natalie Reeves (Euless, Texas) and freshman Patricia Garcia (San Juan, Puerto Rico).
"I'm really looking for Patricia Garcia to step up to the plate a bit this weekend," added McCombs. "She had some good rounds at OU and she's been striking the ball well this week."
Junior Susy Grunden (Krum, Texas) will also be joining the squad and competing as an individual.
The Aggies are coming off back-to-back top five finishes, including a tie for third at their last event, the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic hosted by Oklahoma. A&M is paced by Ruzickova with a 73.44 stroke average. She has been the Aggies' low finisher in two of three events this year.
Texas A&M is scheduled for an 11 a.m. tee time off the first tee and will play with TCU and UTSA in Sunday's first round.
