COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M soccer Head Coach G Guerrieri announced today that all Texas A&M students will get into the Aggies' Big 12 Soccer Tournament games FREE, and all fans wearing a maroon shirt will receive a $2 discount.
"Our fans have made the Aggie games by far the best-attended at each years' Big 12 Soccer Tournament in San Antonio," Guerrieri said. "So, with this being our last trip to this tourney I hope our students and fans will be there to represent the university and bring energy to our great players."
A pair of Texas A&M former students who remain avid Aggie soccer fans has generously arranged to pay for the ticket of any A&M student who shows a Texas A&M ID at the gate. The San Antonio Sports Foundation, the tournament co-host, has agreed to accept the proof-of-identification.
The single-elimination tournament will take place at the Blossom Soccer Stadium in San Antonio this week, beginning with an 8 p.m. Wednesday game between the No. 2 seed Texas A&M soccer team and No. 7 Kansas in the quarterfinals.
If the Aggies advance to the semifinal round, they will play either No. 3 Baylor or No. 6 Missouri on Friday at 8 p.m. The Big 12 Championship match is set for Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to come support A&M in its final Big 12 Tournament.
The Aggies are 13-5-1 this season, ending conference play with a 6-1-1 record to rank second in the league. The team boasts the No. 2 offense in the country, outscoring opponents 64-22 and allowing just three goals in Big 12 play.
Each of the Aggies' matches at the conference tournament will feature live audio and live stats on AggieAthletics.com, as well as live video on Big12sports.com. Wednesday and Sunday's matches can also be heard on 95.1-3 The Zone HD, while the championship match can be viewed locally on FSN. To learn more about Texas A&M soccer, log on to AggieAthletics.com.
