GUADALAJARA,
Mexico--Former
Texas A&M standout Donald Sloan scored 11 points and dished out 3 assists
on Sunday to lead USA Basketball to a 94-92 win over the Dominican Republic in
the Pan American Games bronze medal game.
The bronze medal showing by the USA was the U.S. men's first medal in a Pan American Games since 1999.
"(Winning the bronze medal) means a lot," Sloan told USAbasketball.com following the win. "We came out here with one goal and that was to get gold but we fell a little short. We could have hung our heads low, but we came out and fought and went home with something. I think everyone came together when we needed it and we came out with the bronze medal."
Sloan started all five games at guard for the Americans, averaging 8.4 points and 3.4 rebounds.
