Middleton Named to Preseason All-Big 12 Team
Oct 06, 2011 | Men's Basketball
Middleton (North Charleston, S.C.) was a consensus All-Big 12 and All-Region selection last year, when he paced Texas A&M in scoring (14.4 points/game) and ranked second on the squad in rebounds (5.2/game). Middleton led the Aggies to a 24-9 record, a third-place league finish and the school's sixth-consecutive NCAA Tournament berth.
He joins J'Covan Brown (Texas), Marcus Denmon (Missouri), Perry Jones III (Baylor) and Thomas Robinson (Kansas) on the team. Jones III was named preseason player of the year, while Iowa State's Royce White was named preseason newcomer of the year and Oklahoma State's LeBryan Nash was tabbed preseason freshman of the year.
Players honored in preseason voting were selected by the league head coaches, who are not permitted to vote for their own student-athletes.
It marks the second major preseason honor for Middleton in the last few days, as he was named to the prestigious Wooden Award watch list on Monday.
The Aggies, who return 10 letterwinners and 3 starters from last season's team, will begin practice next weekend in preparation for the season opener against Liberty on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at Reed Arena. The team will be introduced to fans at Maroon Madness, held in conjunction with the Baylor football game yell practice at Kyle Field, on Oct. 14. More details on Maroon Madness will be available soon.
Season tickets are available for as low as $200 and are on sale now by calling 888-99-AGGIE or by logging on to tickets.12thmanfoundation.com.
