McLaine, Patrick Sweep Big 12 Weekly Awards

Texas A&M's Maureen McLaine and Jaele Patrick gave the Aggies a clean sweep of the Big 12 weekly swimming and diving awards

IRVING, Texas- Texas A&M's Maureen McLaine and Jaele Patrick gave the Aggies a clean sweep of the Big 12 weekly swimming and diving awards, the conference office announced on Wednesday.

McLaine won the Big 12 Swimmer of the Week award, and Patrick won the Diver of the Week honor. It was McLaine's first-ever honor, while Patrick won the award for this sixth time, including her second consecutive.
 
McLaine, a junior from Plano, Texas, posted a victory in the 1,650-yard freestyle at the Tennessee Invitational, breaking the Big 12 record in the 1,000 free and the 1,650 in the process. McLaine became Texas A&M's first female to break the 16-minute barrier in the race, touching the wall in 15:56.15 and finishing the first 1,000 in 9:38.95.
 
Patrick, a senior from Lilydale, Victoria, Australia, ran her season record to a perfect 6-for-6 with two more wins at UT. Patrick won the one-meter dive with a score of 316.85 and took the three-meter board in 385.50. Previously, Patrick had swept the one- and three-meter boards in duals against Missouri and Texas.
