ORLANDO, Fla. - Texas A&M placekicker Randy Bullock will be seeking to become the first Aggie winner of the Lou Groza Award at the Home Depot College Football Award Show on Thursday at 8 p.m. (central) on ESPN.
The annual awards show, hosted by ESPN's Chris Fowler, Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit and Desmond Howard, will originate from the Atlantic Dance Hall at Disney's BoardWalk at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The show will feature the live presentation of nine player awards as well as the NCFAA (National College Football Awards Association) Contribution to College Football Award; Disney Spirit Award; The Home Depot Coach of the Year Award; AllState Good Hands Award; and student-athletes selected to the Walter Camp All-America Team.
Â
Bullock, a senior from Spring, Texas, spent the last four days in West Palm Beach, Fla., at the headquarters of the Lou Groza Award, which is administered by the Palm Beach Sports Commission. Bullock, along with fellow finalists Dustin Hopkins of Florida State and Caleb Sturgis of Florida, enjoyed the South Florida hospitality at a variety of events including Tuesday night's black-tie Lou Groza Award Banquet at the Kravis Center.
Â
College football's top three kickers also participated in a visit to the Children's Hospital at St. Mary's, a kicking clinic for the local community and a banquet at the historic The Breakers resort.
Â
Bullock finished the regular season as the NCAA leader in field goals with 2.08 per game after connecting on a school record 25-of-29 three-point tries. Bullock's 127 points this season rank No. 2 nationally, and he is one point shy of breaking A&M's 84-year old season scoring record of 128 set by Joel Hunt in 1927.
Â
On the career field goals chart, Bullock's 58 three-pointers rank No. 2 in school history. He has connected on 58-of-75 field goal tries, which is on a school record pace for accuracy at 77.3 percent. He has scored 349 career points, which is already a school record.
