COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M softball junior Mel Dumezich and senior Natalie Villarreal were named to the College Sports Madness Big 12 Softball Preseason All-Conference Team.
Dumezich (Whiting, Ind.) and Villarreal (Frisco, Texas) were each selected to the publication's first team. Both players earned spots on the CSM Preseason All-America teams earlier this week.
Dumezich led the Aggies from the circle in 2011 and returns for her junior season with a 1.94 cumulative ERA from the past two seasons and 393 strikeouts in the books. The right-handed hurler owns 18 solo shutouts and has recorded 74 hits for A&M.
Villarreal secures a spot at second base in her final season with the Aggies. The two-time Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year selection holds a .303 career clip at the plate and led the team with 14 doubles last season.
The Aggies advanced to the NCAA Super Regional in 2011 for the fourth time in program history after sweeping the College Station Regional. A&M softball returns to the diamond for a Feb. 10 doubleheader to kick off the season at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz., where the team's season began and ended a year ago.
