The Texas A&M women's swim team kicked off the three-day Austin Grand Prix Friday with three finals appearances, including a win in the 400-meter freestyle relay.

The relay squad, which consisted of Ellen Quirke, Christine Regone, Megan Latone and Caroline McElhany, bested the second place team by more than six seconds by notching a time of 3:52.16.

The Grand Prix, which hosts some of the world's best talent and includes many former Olympians, is held in the Olympic style long course meters, whereas normal NCAA events are held in short course yards.

A&M sophomores Breeja Larson and Sarah Henry led the Aggies individually with a pair of seventh place finishes.

Larson took her seventh place touch (2:31.97) in the 200-meter breaststroke against a field that was led by former Olympic gold medalist Rebecca Soni.

Henry grabbed her seventh place finish in the 400-meter freestyle event with a time of 4:13.48.

The Aggies will compete in day 2 preliminaries and finals tomorrow. Events scheduled are the 400-meter individual medley, the 200-meter freestyle, the 200-meter backstroke, the 50-meter freestyle and the 800-meter freestyle relay.
