The Texas A&M women's swimming and diving team kicked off its second day in the three-day Austin Grand Prix with a bang as sophomore Cammile Adams took first place in the 400-meter individual medley.

Adams, who took the top spot with a long-course time of 4:38.80, was ahead of the American record time halfway through her race and held on to beat out Olympic silver medalist Katie Hoff for first place.

The Aggies' 800-meter freestyle relay was the only other A&M appearance in an "A" final on the evening. The squad, made of Adams herself, freshman Ellen Quirke, senior Megan Latone and junior Maureen McLaine, finished third overall with a time of 8:19.02.

The Aggies will close the Grand Prix out tomorrow in Austin, Texas. Scheduled events are the 200-meter butterfly, the 100-meter breaststroke, the 100-meter backstroke, the 200-meter individual medley, the 800-meter freestyle and the 400-meter medley relay.
