Aggie Riders Add Three to Roster

The defending Big 12 and national champion Texas A&M equestrian team added three riders to its roster through open tryouts in the fall.

COLLEGE STATION-The defending Big 12 and national champion Texas A&M equestrian team added three riders to its roster through open tryouts in the fall, head coach Tana McKay announced Friday.

Sophomore Randi Anderson (Bryan, Texas), along with freshmen Paige Linne (Queen Creek, Ariz.) and Jordan Miller (Broken Arrow, Okla.), have joined the squad for the spring semester.

"We are excited about adding these three Aggies to our roster," McKay said. "These young ladies handled the nerves and pressure of our walk-on tryout process really well, and I know they will be great additions to our team."

Anderson is a 2010 graduate of Bryan High School and the daughter of Rod and Alice Anderson. She has been riding for 15 years, taking home numerous Texas American Paint Horse Association (APHA) championships and reserve championships and was very active in 4-H and FFA. Anderson rides under the tutelage of Kelly Lazo and Julie Voge.

Linne is a 2011 graduate of Queen Creek High School. Her parents, Pat and Kristin Linne, are both Aggies and members of the Class of '89. Linne joins the program after riding with the Texas A&M Stock Horse Team, where she took home two reserve all-around titles in the fall. She was an active participant in state and nationwide 4-H events and competitions, placing near the top of her categories in reining,  horsemanship and western trail, among others. Linne is trained by Jeffrey Wilms of Scottsdale, Ariz.

Miller, a 2011 graduate of Metro Christian Academy in Tulsa, is the daughter of Bill and Barbara Miller of Broken Arrow. She is a two-time high point in the nation honoree in Palomino Horse Breeders of America (PHBA) competitions and has taken home many Oklahoma state 4-H titles, among other accolades. Miller is trained by Jeannie Young of Argyle, Texas.

Texas A&M opens the spring portion of its schedule on Friday, Feb. 3 when the Aggies ride in two shows-an English competition against SMU outside of Dallas and a western competition later that evening against TCU in Fort Worth.
