Aggieland Idol National Anthem Try-outs Thursday

Contestants will audition for a chance to sing the national anthem before an Aggie baseball game this spring.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas A&M athletics department will host Aggieland Idol on Thursday evening inside Burkhart Auditorium, giving contestants the opportunity to audition for a chance to sing the national anthem before an Aggie baseball game this spring.

The event, which is open to all students and Aggie fans, will take place from 6:30-9 p.m. with a 6 p.m. registration. Burkhart Auditorium is located at Kyle Field just inside gates 9 and 10 in the northwest corner of the stadium.

Texas A&M baseball head coach Rob Childress along with Frito and Alli from Candy 95 will serve as celebrity judges. Contestants will sing one minute of a song of their choice and one minute of the National Anthem. A handful of Aggie baseball players will be on hand to greet contestants and sign autographs.

The 2012 campaign gets underway for the No. 6 Aggie baseball team on Feb. 17 when Texas A&M welcomes Chicago-Illinois to College Station for a three-game series.
