NCBWA Ranks Aggie Baseball at Preseason No. 5

The Aggies received their highest preseason ranking on Friday, No. 5 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association in its preseason Division I poll

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The preseason accolades continue to roll in for the Texas A&M baseball team as Friday the Aggies were selected as the No. 5 team in the country by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association in its preseason Division I poll.

The ranking is the highest for Texas A&M in the four major college baseball polls put out prior to the first pitch of the 2012 campaign. The Aggies were also selected as the nation's sixth-ranked team in the Collegiate Baseball and USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches' polls, while also garnering a No. 7 ranking in the Baseball America Preseason Top 25.

Texas A&M, which returns 16 letterwinners including three All-Americans off last season's College World Series team, opened full-team practices Friday on Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park in preparation for its season-opening series against Illinois-Chicago on Feb. 17-19.
