#4 Aggies Return to the Diamond to Host Holy Cross

Texas A&M will host Holy Cross in a three-game series over the weekend on Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The No. 4 Texas A&M baseball team puts its season-opening four-game winning streak on the line this weekend when it hosts Holy Cross in a three-game series on Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park. Game times are set for 6:35 p.m. Friday, 2:05 p.m. on Saturday and 12:05 p.m. for Sunday's series finale.

Holy Cross is a Roman Catholic (Jesuit) institution located in Worcester, Mass., with an enrollment of 2,862 ... The Crusaders have been playing baseball since 1876 and have made 11 NCAA Tournament appearances, the last being in 1978 ... Head coach Greg DiCenzo is in his fifth season at the helm of the Holy Cross program, bringing a 93-104-1 career record into the 2012 campaign ... The Crusaders return 21 letterwinners, including five positional starters and 10 pitchers, from last season's 24-23-1 team that finished fifth in the Patriot League.

Freshman closer Daniel Mengden closed out Tuesday night's victroy over Stephen F. Austin with a perfect ninth inning for his first career save.
RS freshman Jason Freeman picked up his first career win on Tuesday night, tossing two perfect innings after entering the game with the Aggies trailing 3-2. Freeman's performance highlights a great night and start to the season for the Aggie bullpen which has allowed no runs and just three hits with 15 strikeouts in 12.1 innings.
 • Reigning Big 12 Player of Year Tyler Naquin picked up right where he left off during last season's breakout sophomore campaign ... through the first four games, the All-American right fielder is hitting .533 (8-for-13) with a team-high nine runs scored while also going a 4-for-5 on the basepaths.
 • Senior Jacob House etched his name in Aggie baseball history as he became the first player to homer in the newly renovated Blue Bell Park, taking a first inning pitch from UIC starter Joey Begel over the wall into the newly-constructed right field bullpen ... The Mansfield, Texas, native repeated the shot on Saturday, hitting an encore first inning, two-run home run.
 • Sophomore Rafael Pineda flirted with perfection during last Sunday's contest against Illinois-Chicago, carrying a perfect game into the sixth inning and a no-hitter into the eight ... to find the last no-hitter thrown by a Texas A&M pitcher, you have to go back to Feb. 14, 2004, when Zach Jackson held Texas A&M-Corpus Christi out of the hit column during a seven-inning contest.
 • For the season-opening series against Illinois-Chicago, the Texas A&M pitching staff yielded just two runs to finish with an impressive 0.67 ERA ... All three Aggie starters (Michael Wacha, Ross Stripling and Pineda) picked up the win during thier first trip to the mound.
 • Texas A&M swept away the Illinois-Chicago Flames on opening weekend to start the season 3-0 ... It marked the fourth straight season the Aggies have earned a sweep on opening weekend.
 • Additionally, the Aggies won on Opening Night for the 12th straight year ... A&M is now 32-3 all-time in season openers on Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
