PALM DESERT, Calif.--The Texas A&M men's golf team is eight shots back of the lead after Saturday's first round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate at Classic Club.
The Aggies carded a 1-under 287 in the first round, and were on the course in the middle of round two when play was suspended due to darkness. Round two will resume Sunday at the point of suspension at 7:30 a.m. PT, followed by the final 18 holes.
UNLV leads the field at 9-under 279, followed by Auburn (-8), Kent State (-6), St. Mary's (-4) and UT Arlington (-3). Texas Tech is tied with the Aggies in sixth, with Baylor (+1), SMU (+3) and San Francisco (+4) rounding out the top 10.
Senior Jordan Russell is A&M's top individual, firing a 2-under 70 to sit four shots out of the lead. Redshirt freshman Greg Yates (71, -1) Â is in 12th, while true freshman Tyler Dunlap (72, E) is in 23rd. Senior Geoff Shaw (74, +2) and junior Cameron Peck (75, +3) round out the Aggie contingent.
