Stripling Named Co-Big 12 Pitcher of the Week

Texas A&M senior pitcher Ross Stripling has been honored as Phillips 66 Big 12 Co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday as he was selected by a panel of media covering the league.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M senior pitcher Ross Stripling has been honored as Phillips 66 Big 12 Co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday as he was selected by a panel of media covering the league.

Stripling is joined as the Co-Pitcher of the week by Oklahoma's Jordan John.  Also making the list of weekly Big 12 awards were two Texas players: Jonathan Walsh (Player of the Week) and Brooks Marlow (Newcomer of the Week).

Stripling showed the form that made him an All-American a year ago during his start against Michigan State on Saturday. The Southlake, Texas, native was impressive as he threw eight shutout innings to lead A&M to a 4-0 victory over Michigan State.  He scattered just five hits while walking two and striking out five on 111 pitches.

The victory was Stripling's 23rd career win, moving him into a tie with Chris Russ (1998-01) and Ronnie Allen (1989-91) for ninth place in Texas A&M history.

This season, Stripling owns a 2-0 record on the mound with a 2.08 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 21.2 innings pitched. The right-hander limited opponents to just five walks and a .215 batting average.

Stripling has been named Big 12 Pitcher or Co-Pitcher of the week three times previously in his career and he looks to add to that total, after earning the honor in only the second week it has been awarded this season.
