Nine members of the Texas A&M men's and women's diving teams will travel to Iowa City, Iowa Thursday to compete in the NCAA Zone D Diving Regional Qualifiers.
Even without team scoring leader Grant Nel, the Aggie men's team divers are coming off of a combined 137-point performance at the 2012 Big 12 Championships.
Sophomore Hayden Jones led the Aggies on both of the springboard events with a pair of third place finishes. Jones finished with scores of 375.20 on the 1-meter and 405.70 in the 3-meter event.
Jones will be a part of a 4-diver entourage of Aggies at the Zone competition. Senior Grant Nel, Jones, and sophomores Antonio Page-Kahn and Adam Ruiz will all be competing for their chance to advance to the 2012 NCAA Championship meet.
The Texas A&M women's squad is coming off of a staggering combined 154-point performance at the Big 12 Championships led by a pair of wins by senior Janie Potvin.
Potvin took first place in record-setting style in the platform diving event as she broke the Big 12 Conference record with a score of 375.00. Potvin also grabbed first in the 1-meter springboard event with a score of 303.40.
