Aggies earn 22 All-America honors from NCAA Indoor

Texas A&M earned a total of 22 All-America honors from the NCAA Indoor Championships with 16 of them claiming first team distinction for those athletes and relays that finished among the top eight.

Aggies earn 16 first team All-America honors at NCAA Indoor Championships

COLLEGE STATION - A total of 22 All-America honors were awarded to the Texas A&M track and field program from performances at the NCAA Indoor Championships this past weekend.

There were 16 first-team All-America honors achieved by 14 Aggies who placed among the top eight in the finals of their respective events. Kamaria Brown and Donique' Flemings each received a pair of All-America honors. Both ran on the women's 4 x 400 relay and placed in the finals of the 200 meters and 60 hurdles, respectively.

First-team honors were also awarded to the men's distance medley relay, which included Ricky Babineaux, Will Barry, Henry Lelei and Joey Roberts, as well as the women's 4 x400, which included Olivia Ekponé and Ibukun Mayungbe.

Also claiming first team honors in individual events were Wayne Davis II (60 hurdles), Ashley Collier (60 meters), Dominique Duncan (200), Michael Preble (800), Natosha Rogers (5000) and Ameer Webb (200).

Second team All-America recognition went to Laura Asimakis (pole vault), Collier (200), Ekponé (200), and Prezel Hardy, Jr. (200).

USTFCCCA PROGRAM OF THE YEAR

Updated standings for the John McDonnell Division I Program of the Year have been released following the NCAA Indoor Championships. Including team results from the NCAA Cross Country meet last fall the Texas A&M men's team is currently in sixth place.

The Aggies placed 18th in cross country and recently tied for eighth place at the NCAA Indoor, earning a tally of 27 points. The final tabulation will include the NCAA Outdoor Championships in June.

Top five teams currently include Indiana (13), Stanford (16), BYU (18), Texas (18) and Florida State (21). Rounding out the top 10 behind the Aggies are Florida (31), Wisconsin (31), Syracuse (34.5) and Minnesota (35.5).

AGGIES START OUTDOOR SEASON IN ARIZONA

The outdoor season for the three-time defending NCAA Champions begins this weekend at the Baldy Castillo Invitational hosted by Arizona State. The Aggies are spending their spring break week training in Tempe before competing in the meet on Friday and Saturday.
