Led by sophomore Katerina Ruzickova, the No. 13 Texas A&M women's golf team moved into a tie for second place in the second round of the PING/ASU Invitational on Saturday at the ASU Karsten Golf Course.

TEMPE, Ariz. - Led by sophomore Katerina Ruzickova, the No. 13 Texas A&M women's golf team moved into a tie for second place in the second round of the PING/ASU Invitational on Saturday at the ASU Karsten Golf Course.

No. 1 UCLA is in the lead with a 3-under 565 (284-281), while Texas is also tied for second with 574 (289-285). UC Davis is tied for fourth with No. 5 Arizona State (578) followed by No. 8 LSU (579), UNLV and Stanford (582), TCU (586), No. 19 Arizona and No. 3 USC (588), New Mexico and Oklahoma State (593), No. 7 Vanderbilt and No. 23 Washington (594), San Diego State (600) and Oregon State (619).

"We had another great day today," A&M head coach Trelle McCombs said. "I'm very proud of where we are right now. The conditions got a little tougher on the last couple holes, but all in all it was a good day."

Ruzickova jumped nearly 30 spots and is now tied for 15th with 144 (74-70). She was hot early as she birdied four of her last five holes on the front nine, but cooled down with three bogeys on the back nine to finish 1-under.

"Katerina played more like Kat," McCombs said. "She was fortunate enough to roll some putts in early and get it going."

Junior Sarah Beth Davis stayed steady in the second round and shot a 1-over 72 and is also tied for 15th (72-72). Freshman Patricia Garcia is tied for 11th with 143 (70-73). UCLA's Tiffany Lua (68-69) is the individual leader with a 5-under 137.

Junior Mary Michael Maggio is tied for 26th with a 146 (71-75) and sophomore Natalie Reeves is tied for 74th with 154 (82-72).

The Aggies tee off from the first hole on Sunday starting at 10:50 a.m. (CT). McCombs was very happy with A&M's position heading into the final round.

"We have a great pairing tomorrow with UCLA and Texas and are looking forward to being in the last group," she said.
