Dittmer, from Spring, Texas, joins teammates Rita Medrano and Lili Ibanez, who had previously been named to the their home country's squad. She will compete in the 200-meter IM in London. At the Mexican Olympic Trials in early May, Dittmer grabbed two wins and two runner-up finishes. Dittmer broke the Mexican national record in the 200 IM with a time of 2:16.39 and won the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.00. She also placed second to Ibanez in the 50 free in 26.35 and was second in the 200 breast in 2:31.86.
At the U.S. Olympic Team Trials on Thursday, sophomores Cammile Adams (Cypress, Texas) and Caroline McElhany (Friendswood, Texas) advanced through the 200-meter butterfly prelims and semifinals and will seek to join teammate Breeja Larson on the U.S. Olympic squad with a top two finish in Friday's final.
Adams, the 2011 and 2012 NCAA runner-up in the race, enters the final as the top seed with a time of 2:08.07 in the semis, while McElhany is ranked seventh with a time of 2:10.78. In the final with the Aggies will be Kathleen Hersey, Teresa Crippen, Kim Vandenberg, Kelsey Floyd, Tanya Krisman and Shannon Draves.
