Aggies Fall to Saint Louis at CBE Classic

Texas A&M dropped its opening contest in the CBE Classic to Saint Louis 70-49 Monday night at Sprint Center.

KANSAS CITY (AP)-- Dwayne Evans matched a career high with 21 points, Mike McCall Jr. added 13 and Saint Louis posted a 70-49 victory over Texas A&M on Monday night in the semifinals of the CBE Classic.

Cory Remekin added 13 points and Cody Ellis finished with 10 for the Billikens (2-1), who will play No. 12 Kansas or Washington State in the championship game Tuesday night.

Elston Turner had 16 points and Ray Turner added 10 for the Aggies (3-1), but Fabyon Harris was just 2 for 10 from the field and Texas A&M committed 19 turnovers while getting out-rebounded 31-25.

  • Texas A&M shot .417 (10-of-24) during the opening period while SLU shot .393 (11-of-28) from the floor.
  • SLU's Cory Remekun led all scorers with nine points at the break, while Ray Turner made all three of his first half shots to pace Texas A&M with seven points.
  • The Aggies were guilty of seven first half turnovers, leading to a 12-2 Billiken advantage in points off turnovers.

SECOND HALF NOTES

  • The Saint Louis lead reached its apex at the 4:14 mark of the second half as it took a 65-41 advantage.
  • Texas A&M shot .474 (9-of-19) during the second period while SLU shot a sizzling .667 (14-of-21).
