COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 8 Texas A&M Equestrian team placed 18 student-athletes on the National Collegiate Equestrian Association Honor Roll, and 12 riders were selected to NCEA Academic Teams, the organization announced.
Amanda Brightwell, Kori Pickett and Laura Sumrall headlined for the Aggies, each being named to the NCEA Academic First Team. Lindsey Bernbaum, Molli Jacobs, Cassie Mantor, Kelsi Shevlin and Ashley Skold were each selected to the second team while Caroline Ammons, Shelby Lawson, Paige Russell and Emily Williams earned Honorable Mention.
The 12 A&M riders who were named to NCEA Academic Teams were also selected to the NCEA Honor Roll. Joining them on that list were Cassie Bell, Kayla Briel, Morgan Cleveland, Camilla Cook, Paige Linne and Alyssa Martin.
To be named to the Academic First Team, nominated student-athletes must have competed in a minimum of 70 percent of their schools' meets, not including demonstration or exhibition rides, and the nominated student-athletes must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous spring and fall semesters, respectively.
Second-Team members must have competed in a minimum of 60 percent of their schools' meets, not including demonstration or exhibition rides, and the nominated-student athletes must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.25 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous spring and fall semesters, respectively.
To receive NCEA Academic Honorable Mention, nominated student-athletes must have competed in a minimum of 50 percent of their schools' meets, not including demonstration or exhibition rides, and the nominated student athletes must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.00 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous spring and fall semesters, respectively.
Riders placed on the NCEA Academic Honor Roll must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.25 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous spring and fall semesters, respectively.
