McGregor Named to Canadian World University Games Team

Freshman Ashley McGregor earned her spot on Canada's World University Games roster with a standout performance at the World Championship Trials.

OTTAWA – Texas A&M freshman swimmer Ashley McGregor has been named to Canada's World University Games team that will compete in Kazan, Russia July 6-17, the Canadian Interuniversity Sport, in conjunction with Swimming Canada, announced.

McGregor, from Pointe-Claire, Quebec, made the Canadian team in the 200 breaststroke, which is the same event she earned NCAA All-America honors at the 2013 NCAA Championships. McGregor earned her spot on the World University Games roster with a standout performance at Canada's World Trials. McGregor was third in the 200-meter breaststroke in a time of 2:27.55, and she also placed fourth in the 100 breast (1:09.38) and eighth in the 50 breast (32.43).

Joining McGregor at the World University Games will be sophomore Sarah Henry, who earned a spot on the United States' squad at last summer's U.S. Open. Henry, who was named Team MVP at last week's team banquet, was the No. 2 scorer with 79 points at the U.S. Open and posted five top eight finishes. She will compete in the 200- and 400-meter IM and the 800-meter free relay.
