Sophomores Harrison Adams and Shane Vinsant both claimed three wins over the past two days to set themselves up for a potential showdown in the semifinals. Adams defeated Sean Donohue of Alabama (6-3, 6-3), Tam Trinh of LSU (6-4, 5-7, 6-3) and Tom Jomby of Kentucky (6-4, 7-6) in consecutive rounds to set up a matchup with William Kallberg of Ole Miss. Vinsant downed Stuart Kenyon of Alabama (6-4, 5-7, 6-4), Kriss Yee of Vanderbilt (4-6, 6-1, 6-2) and Florian Lakat of Florida (6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (3)) to earn a contest against Chris Simpson of LSU. First serve for both singles quarterfinal matchup is slated for 10:30 a.m. Adams and Vinsant also teamed up in doubles to advance to the quarterfinals with two victories. The 12th-ranked duo ousted Eswaran/Offerdahl of Vanderbilt (8-5) and Swank/Schaefer of South Carolina (8-4) and will face off against Stropp/Angus of Mississippi State tomorrow morning at 9:30.
Junior Behzad Minavi advanced to the third round of the main draw with wins over Santaigo Munoz of Arkansas (3-6, 6-0, 6-3) and Andrew Korinek of LSU (6-3, 6-4) before falling to Kentucky's Beck Pennington, 6-1, 6-4. Tito Moreiras, a freshman from San Antonio, dropped his first round contest against Brandon Fickey of Tennessee (7-6 (4), 6-4), but bounced back with two victories in the consolation bracket over Kevin Lai of Kentucky (7-6 (0), 6-3) and Pete Thomasen of Arkansas (3-6, 6-2, 6-3). Minavi and Moreiras paired together in doubles, but couldn't claim an early victory, falling 8-6 to Kennedy/Busch of LSU.
Frankie Colunga, a freshman from College Station, downed Anton Kovringin of Vanderbilt (6-4, 5-7, 6-3) before falling to Chris Simpson of LSU in the third round (6-2, 6-0). Max Montague, a junior transfer from Saint Joseph's, was the only Aggie to not claim a victory in Nashville, falling to Stephane Piro of Florida (6-1, 6-2) in the second round and Chip Cox of South Carolina (6-2, 6-0) in the consolation bracket. In doubles, Colunga and Montague fell in their second round contest to Parlic/Thomasen of Arkansas, 8-2.
