Georgia Tech will also be seeking its 700th win on Saturday in a 6 p.m. CT matchup against Pittsburgh.
• The series between Texas A&M and Mississippi State is tied at 3-3. The Aggies won the most recent meeting 38-13 last year in Starkville, Miss.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR
• Sophomore QB Johnny Manziel needs four passing touchdowns to match Jerrod Johnson's school record of 30 passing TDs from 2009.
• Manziel needs 26 rushing yards to reach 2,000 for career. He would join Bucky Richardson as A&M's only QB 2,000-yard rushers (He needs 122 to break Richardson's school QB rushing record). When he reachs 2,000 rushing yards, he will become the 18th FBS player with 2,000 rushing yards and 6,000 passing yards in his career.
• Manziel needs 133 passing yards to reach 3,000 in just 10 games in 2013. He would be the first Aggie to surpass the 3,000-yard plateau twice. It's only been done three times previously at Texas A&M.
• Biletnikoff Award candidate Mike Evans needs just 61 receiving yards to surpass Ryan Swope's school record of 1,207 set in 2011. With his next receiving TD, he will take sole possession of A&M's record for receiving touchdowns in a season (tied with Jeff Fuller at 12).
• The Aggies are in the midst of a streak of eight straight games with 500-plus total yards, which is easily the longest streak in the FBS. Oregon has the second longest streak with four straight 500-yard games.
• Texas A&M takes a FBS-best 12-game streak of 40-point games into the Mississippi State game.
• As a team, the Aggies lead the SEC in scoring (49.0 points/game), total offense (582.6 yards/game), passing (371.8 yards/game), pass efficiency (178.5 rating), punting (48.5 avg.) and net punting (41.3 avg.), and first downs (29.1/game).

One of the opening periods of head coach Kevin Sumlin's practices is called “fast start.” Occurring just after warmups, “fast start” features several live-action 11-on-11 series just like a game situation. He started implementing the period when his teams at the University of Houston were getting off to slow starts.
• Texas A&M has scored nine or more points in the first quarter of eight consecutive games. In 22 games under Sumlin, the Aggies have scored at least 14 first-quarter points 13 times.
• Texas A&M has scored first in 21 of 22 games under Kevin Sumlin. The only game when the Aggies didn't score first was the 2013 season opener against Rice.

• The Aggie defense has forced three-and-outs on the opponents' opening possession of the second half in five of nine games this season (Only six total first downs allowed).
• A&M has yielded a touchdown on an opponents' first chance with the ball after halftime just once this season (SHSU), while the Aggie defense has notched a defensive score twice.

• The Aggies have used 17 true freshmen, four redshirt freshman, two four-year transfers and two junior college transfers for a total of 25 players that have made their maroon and white playing debuts in 2013.
• Since 1972, the Aggies have awarded varsity letters to 10 or more true freshman in a season only a handful of times: 18 in 2009, 16 in 1980, 11 in 1973 and 10 in 1972 and 2008.
• Kevin Sumlin's 2013 signing class included a whopping 31 players.
Notes and Trends
• Nineteen players have grabbed at least one catch in 2013. From that group, only five are seniors.
• Seven players have at least 10 catches.
• Junior WR Malcome Kennedy is three catches shy of joining Mike Evans in the 50-catch club in 2013.
• Kennedy needs 16 catches for 100 in his career and 65 receiving yards for 1,000 in his career.
• With three more catches by senior WR Travis Labhart, the Aggies will have four receivers with 30-plus catches in 2013.
• The Aggie defense has 14 interceptions in 2013, including three “pick-six” INTs.
• Nine Aggies combine for the 14 interceptions. Those nine players combined for just three pickoffs prior to 2013.
• Senior LB Steven Jenkins needs two tackles to hit 200 for his career. He is the team's leading active tackler.
• Sophomore punter Drew Kaser has put 11 of 26 punts inside the opponent's 20-yard line. Only twice in 2013 has he averaged less than 40 yards in a game. In both instances, Kaser had just one punt attempt and he put it inside the opponent 20.
Maroon Goons clear the way
Paving the way for the Aggies' offense is one of the biggest offensive fronts in school history, which features a pair of tackles that have been projected to be NFL first-round draft picks in the future. The projected starting five, self-titled the “Maroon Goons,” of senior All-American Jake Matthews (OT), juniors Cedric Ogbuehi (OT) and Jarvis Harrison (OG), sophomore Mike Matthews (C) and redshirt freshman Germain Ifedi (OG) weigh in at 1,526 pounds or 305.2 per goon.
Matthews shifted from right tackle to left tackle to replace Outland Trophy winner Luke Joeckel, while Ogbuehi moved from guard to right tackle.

Road Warriors
• Texas A&M matched a school record with its 10th straight road victory against Ole Miss. The last loss for the Aggies on the road was a 53-50 overtime loss to Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan., on Nov. 12, 2011. The Aggies' other 10-game road winning streak was in 1939-40.
• Kevin Sumlin's personal “away from home” winning streak stands at 15 games.
Honoring Polo
The Texas A&M football team will honor the memory of fallen teammate Polo Manukainiu with a helmet sticker that reflects his Tongan heritage. The Aggies will wear the circular decal with Manukainiu's #90 jersey and his first name on it. Inset in the jersey number will be a Tongan-inspired design. The Aggies will wear the decal throughout the 2013 season.
Texas A&M equipment manager Matt Watson said, “We wanted to come up with a tribute to Polo as a player, but also reflect a bit of his personality as well. After talking with several of his friends and family it was evident how much Polo's Tongan heritage meant to him. After trying to incorporate partial elements of Polo's actual Tongan Tribal arm tattoos we came up with this design that hopefully his family, friends, and teammates will deem a fitting and personal reflection to who he was both on and off the playing field.”
Manukainiu, from Euless, Texas, died along with two other passengers in a tragic automobile accident on July 29, 2013.
One Texas A&M player will wear Polo's #90 jersey in every game in 2012.
